FAQ
Why does the site look funny on my computer?
We're using a free font called Intimacy on the site, and if you don't have it some of the text headers may look strange. You can download a zip file containing the Intimacy font here.
What is a flame?
A flame is when you send angry e-mail to an author telling them that you hated something they wrote and why they're a horrible person for writing it, or something to that effect. Flaming is NOT the same thing as sending critical reviews or even telling an author you don't like a particular story. Critiques are about the story; flames are attacks on the author.
Why doesn't Lone Tree Creative Preserve allow flames? Don't I have a right to my opinion?
Yes, you do have a right to your opinion - what you don't have is the right to attack our artists with it. Lone Tree Creative Preserve recognizes that most flames are sent for the express purpose of trying to stop an artist from creating anything else. We don't believe anyone has the right to do that, and we won't allow it to happen on our site.
What happens if I send a flame to someone at Lone Tree?
We deal with flames on a case-by-case basis. You might get a reply from the site administrator telling you not to do it again, or we might block your address so you can't flame us again, or if you get too carried away we may find it necessary to report you.
What do you mean by 'stealing'?
Stealing is taking something that doesn't belong to you and pretending it's always been yours - among writers it's also called plagiarism. Unless it's in Originalities we pretty much don't care what you borrow around here, all we ask is that you remember where you borrowed it FROM. This is especially important over at Lone Wolf Ficholm and The Bunny Farm. If you want to borrow something or if a bunny follows you home, please don't be afraid to ASK US ABOUT IT. If we didn't want to share, we wouldn't be putting it all on the Web, now would we?
Why do you have adult content on your site?
Because we're adults, and what we create is mostly intended for other adults. If you are not an adult, you should avoid the adult content until you are. It will still be here when you're old enough to read it legally.
What if it isn't still here?
E-mail us and complain. Someone will know where it went.
What do you do to keep minors out of the adult content on your site?
All of our adult links and content are clearly marked, and adult-themed fiction carries the appropriate ratings. If you are underage (legal in most places is 18, but in some few it's 21 - know the laws in your area!) you are responsible for minding the warnings and staying OUT of the adult sections.
Why is everything on your site arranged in alphabetical order?
Because our site designer is anal. And that was the best way to be fair to everyone when we were listing things.
Where do you get your graphics?
Some of our graphics came from Feebleminds-gifs.com, a wonderful graphics site. Custom graphics were all created by the site designer, and artwork in Artistic Expressions is listed with its artist's name.
Why doesn't your site have more neat graphics?
If you're asking that, you obviously aren't on dialup.
Why doesn't your site have frames/neat effects/etc.?
Because people with older browsers and/or computers have trouble viewing pages with all that stuff on them, and we want everyone to be able to enjoy our site.
Why can't I join the Lone Tree CP Writers group on Yahoo?
The Writers Group is where the creative people who run Lone Tree CP communicate with each other. If you want to join a Lone Tree group, the
LTCP Community is open to everyone.
Why is (person or content I don't like) a part of this site?
Because we're not you.
Where do I report broken links?
Send those to the site designer at setcheti@lonetreecp.org. Please do NOT complain to the site designer about the site design, because it makes her pissy and then the rest of us have to live with it.
Can I link to your site?
Of course you can, but only to either the main index page or the Lone Wolf Ficholm index page. Please do not link to other individual pages unless you ask us first.
What if I link to another page anyway? Well, again, we handle incidents on a case by case basis. You might get a notice from our site administrator...or we might just switch the page you linked to with one you won't like nearly as much.
Where do I send feedback for an author or artist?
If you can't find the author or artist's email address, you can send your feedback to
Catherine, the site administrator, and she'll make sure it gets to the right person. Or you can join
LTCP Community and leave your feedback there.
What screen resolution is this site best viewed at?
Lone Tree was designed to look best in Internet Explorer at 800x600, but it should also look all right at higher resolutions as well.
